I decided to try something new to combat my stat checking problem. I realized I was burning this time online because I was bored. These moments were when I was too tired or had enough of work & my conventional entertainment. So I needed to fill it with something…
So for all last week, the moment I got that desire to screw around, I just shut down my computer right away and would do my household chores. At first I just got caught up on the basics. Washed all my dishes, cleaned my kitchen, my bathroom, etc. However I still had a energy left so I started preparing big tasks I wanted to take care of the next day.
- Prepped vegetables for something I was cooking the next day.
- Pre-sorted my laundry for washing.
- Got all my mail and bills out and put them on my desk so I could process them.
- Broke down all the cardboard in my recycling.
- Washed out my coffee maker and prepared it for the next morning.
- Did some light paperwork / scanning I had to do for work.
I kept going and I got to the point where I had so much prepared for the next day, I had to make a list of all the things I had ready to go.
The next day was great! I woke up and everything was locked and loaded for me. Flipped on my coffee maker, had a clean mug, a clean spoon - my work was all laid out for me. I glided into my day and destroyed my task list. I decided to wait a week before writing about what happened - to see if it was just a one time thing. Anyway a few nights passed and I kept prepping my next-day tasks and by the weekend I was so caught up on everything - my apartment looked like it belonged to someone else it was so clean. It felt good having everything in order and I spent the whole weekend relaxing, playing video games, climbing and working on a side project without a care in the world. No guilty “oh I should be doing this and that” thoughts popped into my head.
Anyway, I don’t think this an epic discovery but if your ever feeling overwhelmed and need to have a “hassle free” productive day I’d recommend you try this. It was just refreshing to have everything go my way just a little bit. Anyway I guess I’m getting old, instead of staying up late and partying making my next day more difficult - I’m staying up doing my laundry and taxes
