I had an idea for a cool plug-in for a web browser (or a desktop tool). This plug-in/tool would need to work with a financial application like MS Money or maybe even that fancy new website Mint.com (they could even do a toolbar!).
Basically what it would do is looks at prices that you see on the Internet - figures out your current financial situation/credit/interest and shows what a given item will REALLY cost you. I guess it’s not as simple as that, maybe it gave a spread of options i.e. “if you payed with your bank account right away it would cost x. if you paid on your Visa but left it because you are overextended it would cost y”.
So many of our buying impulses online are based on that price we see - having our complete financial situation tied into that price would help us make better decisions overall. I think.. but that would be cool, no?
