ReviewMe.com - Get paid to sneeze

November 12, 2006

Before we get started, The following is a sponsored post (I have to say that). I am writing this for ReviewMe.com. After you create your account, they ask you to write a post about the site itself. Here goes!

It’s pretty simple what ReviewMe.com is, it’s a marketplace that connects marketers with promiscuous sneezers (term from IdeaVirus by Seth Godin). The problem is - put simply, when someone accepts money to endorse a product, you trust them a little bit less. Also with any kind of service where money changes hands of course you will have people abusing it.

I’m not a negative guy so I’m looking at ReviewMe.com from the angle that the majority of people using it will write authentic reviews. However here are some ideas on ways to get people who don’t want to “Sell-out” to use ReviewMe.com.

How about they build a little widget a blogger can include in the review that shows the terms of the deal. Being open and honest about why the review was created could potentially reduce those feelings?

Perhaps if they want to really drop that stigma they could allow another way to let marketers solicit reviews. Perhaps they need to add the feature where marketers can *give* products to reviewers instead in trade for a honest review. This seems a bit more authentic plus it will open the door for new/obscure products to be reviewed.

If they go this way, I want to be first in line to review the Subaru STI Litchfield Type-25 :)
