I’ve decided to scrap the Bitporters Text Translation Service (BTTS). This is hard for me to do because I know it is a viable business venture. I’m dropping BTTS due to a new job that I am starting in the New Year. Also I am scrapping it because I do not know French, and it’s too risky for me to not fully understand my delivered product. I got into this because I knew it would work and I wanted to see it happen.
I have decided to release my code to create and review HITs/Qualifications. This is a basic tool but it will enable anyone with C#/XML experience to get HITs and Qualifications on Amazon Mechanical Turk. This was all written with Visual Studio 2005 using C#. I invite anyone who is interested in building a business based on top of Amazon Mechanical Turk to take this from where I left off. Using my code you will already have a great head-start.
I want to thank the large number of people who emailed about being a BTTS translator/Reviewer. This is a large indication that people are willing to do this kind of work. It was not just French translators either - I received notes from people fluent in Mandarin, Spanish, German, Portuguese, Turkish and more.
So hopefully this doesn’t end here. I really hope someone steps up and turns this into a very profitable business!
